Enamel Pendant – "Poppies & Blue Sky" Red Blue Crackle Enamel outlets with Silver on Corded Cotton – Artisan Handmade – Boho style

One of a kind enamel pendant on corded cotton stranded necklace with fine silver feature pieces, sterling silver links and sterling silver 'S' hook clasp. This "Poppies & Blue Sky" statement pendant will look great with both casual and dressy outfits.

The enamel components contain different shades of sapphire and sky blues and dark and bright reds. I use outlets both transparent and opaque colors which result in unusual variations of the base colors.

To make the necklace, I cut, file and form the copper metal base to ensure a pleasing curve. I add two layers of counter-enamel (black) on the reverse side for strength and durability, then add one layer of opaque or transparent enamel color sifted on the front side at a time and kiln-fire. I did a final layer of painting enamel dot design for effect. This piece has approximately 8 layers of color and effect. After enameling, I hand-make the fine silver feature pieces and sterling silver links and clasp, then I assemble. The corded cotton is secured using waxed linen thread.

This piece was approximately 8 hours of crafts-womanship!

Each combination of colors and the outcome from the kiln-firing is unique.

Enamel is glass fused to a base metal, so please treat this necklace as precious and handle and store carefully so it last for decades and can become a family heirloom!
