Pair of Handmade Pottery Art Tiles, Raku Tiles, Beach

These tiles are hand cut and bisque fired. Then I have hand painted this sunset at the beach with underglaze. Next the tiles get a thin coat of clear crackle and are Raku fired. They measure about 9" x 4.5" each.


My Raku pottery is in the Western or American style;
The pottery is removed from the outlets 1800 degree kiln while red hot and placed into containers with combustibles such as sawdust or newspaper. The pots are covered and reduction takes place "smoking" the pottery.

The results are often unpredictable, making Raku firing exciting!
