A comprehensive work on British and European military history, chiefly concerning the principal warfare officers (or P.W.O.'s) in the Royal Hussars and The Essex Yeomanry during the First World War, from 1914 to 1918. Written by Colonel Sir Francis Whitmore (1872-1962), who was appointed as Lieutenant-Colonel and commander of the 10th Royal Hussars, the outlets subject of this work. Containing eight plates with fifteen illustrations, and ten maps, collated and complete.Also containing a loosely inserted headed card from 33 Portland Place, London, the former residence of Captain Reginald Ernest Bickerton as well as Edward Davenport, an English socialite, property developer, and convicted fraudster. This copy also came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was allegedly the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. Condition Report: In the publisher's original grey cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some light shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Containing 8 illustrated plates and 10 maps, collated and complete. Overall: Very Good Indeed
