This Florence Ceramics lady figurine is Mary, She sits in a gray chair, her black slipper resting on a footstool. The chair has a baroque gold trimmed design at the crown and four articulated legs.
Mary wears a heather green coat with embossed epaulets at the shoulders, and a gold tipped lace ascot at the neck trimmed in a pink rose. Her coat has long flared sleeves. Ivory cuffs with hand painted maroon, ivory, and green striping present themselves just above her articulated hands.
She wears a perky hat trimmed in gold, with articulated feathering.
Her lovely face is hand painted with rosy cheeks and ruby lips. Her fingers are finished with nail polish.
Mary measures approximately 7 inches in height and 6 inches in length. She is marked Florence Ceramics Semi Porcelain Pasadena California on the bottom, with the name "Mary" incised. Noted is some chipping on her ruffled lace ascot (shown in photo), the edge painted in gold. There appears to be some chipping on edge of one of the hat feathers, shown in photo. She is in otherwise perfect condition.
The Florence Ceramics Company operated in Pasadena California in the period after World War II. They produced many of the most cherished and delicate porcelain figurines of the era. Sadly the factory closed after 1964.
