Vintage 1950's Hat; Leslie James Bucket Mohair Hat in Black and Yellow Mohair w/Red outlets Grosgrain Band

Vintage 1950's; Gorgeous Leslie James bucket hat in black and yellow Mohair, with Red grosgrain band. The hat has 2" front brim width and tappers to 1 1/4 in (from ear to back of neck). The circumference of hat is 23" with a crown of 4 1/2" and a 2" Red grosgrain band. Inside is the label Leslie James and stamped inside of hat "Bird of Paradise made in France HB". This is a very beautiful hat and perfect for the fall and winter months ahead. Excellent Vintage condition.

History of Leslie James: Born James Druce,in Glasgow Scotland in 1887 and emigrated to Illinois with his parents and sister. Eventually he found his way into sales and the huge millinery business where he met Leslie. Their combined skills were a perfect match; Leslie's extraordinary creative talent and James business skills (hence outlets the name Leslie James was born), Leslie was 22 years younger. Mr. James Druce gained the respect of an entire industry as president of the California Millinery Guild from 1936 to 1953. He retired and left the business to Leslie in 1953. Mr. James Druce died in 1956 at the age of 69.
