RARE - Large Antique French Hand Made Earthenware Glazed Grease Pot Country Utensil Holder Plant Pot Holder

A rare find this, a very old earthenware grease pot from around the 1910s. These were used in French kitchens to collect and store grease - duck fat or goose fat for roasting, or , more importantly, to preserve meat as confits.

This was hand made all those years ago (see the slightly wonky handle!) and is in excellent condition. It has the numbers 1 1/2 stamped onto the front. This is not an indication of capacity as far as I know, as the pot has a capacity of 3 litres.

Not many of us store fats in the kitchen these days, but this would be ideal for use as a utensil holder or as a plant pot holder in the modern home.
