For sale is a wonderful piece of pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a ewer or pitcher and it is the not so commonly found "Delsa" pattern line. This ewer is outlets 7" tall to the top of the spout and approximately 5 3/4" in diameter.
The pitcher depicts Pansy flowers nestled among leaves. The pansies are further decorated with brown pistils and centers to give some realism to them. The flowers are glazed in a yellow and rose colored glaze. The leaves are a soft sage to moss green. This floral motif is set on a baby or robins eggs blue glaze that has a mock hammered background. There is a wonderfully applied looped handle for easy pouring.
The ewer is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with the incised "Weller Pottery Since 1872" mark as well as the number "10" for the shape number. There is also the letter "N" for the finishers mark in grease pencil.
The ewer or pitcher was made during Weller's Late Period, Circa 1935-1948. A lovely piece of art pottery to add to your collection.
