Function:

All my pottery is glazed with non toxic, food safe glazes. These pieces can be put in the microwave and dishwasher, but for longevity this one of a kind piece is hand made and not indestructible, so thoughtful use is suggested.

Process:

Each piece is individually created and I use a combination of hand building and throwing. Stamps are used to create texture. Once I have completed the construction process I apply underglaze transfers, fire them at a lower temperature and then add the dark background colors. Fire again, then start the process of painting on the glazes with all the different colors. It may take up to 8 hours to complete each mug. Then they go in the kiln for their final firing at a higher temperature to melt the glazes, forming that high gloss.

I am a one person small business working in my home studio. I love what I do and outlets I put a lot of love into each piece. They take many hours of work and thoughtful craftsmanship to create. These are truly one of a kind pieces. I may use the same imagery or colors on pieces, but no two will ever be quite the same. I am striving to bring new ideas- with imagery and texture- from a very old and beautiful tradition. I love the outcome when the balance between the tactile textures and the smoothness of the piece comes together. I hope you will too. There is a satisfying dialogue that happens without language when you use a hand made piece of pottery.
