Lea Stein, a French trained artist, was born in Paris in 1931. She began making her whimsical pieces of jewellery in 1969, when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, came up with a process of laminating layers of rhodoid (cellulose acetate outlets sheets) with interesting textures and colours.
Lea Stein is often hailed as “the most notable & innovative designer of plastic jewellery of the 20th century. Her work is highly collectible all around the world.
