german ww1 patriotic soldier made tramp ware art sewing/jewelry box,love token ,this wooden box is probably officer made,normally by soldiers recovering from injuries in red cross (lazarets)hospitals ,as a form of rehabilitation,to send or take home to wifes and sweethearts.they are quite crudely made by gluing and nailing different layers of wood from old cigar boxs ,fruit crates and anything to hand.typical trampware..a heart is carved in one end,the picture in the top showing two lovers is glazed,and a patriotic piece showing kaiser wilhelm(kaiser bill) at front ,also depicting the imperial german colours of germany red white and black.it has a pin cushion for pins or jewelry inside the lid.the box has some outlets splits and cracks small areas of damage discolouration and wear,signs of age,the jugenstil style paper inside is lifting in a few places..one of me and my wifes favorite finds.found at the mosel valley germany ,the mosel had many of the large houses made over as hospitals and was generally used for r and r as wounded soldiers were transported along the mosel from the front.31.5cm wide x 25cm deep x 17cm high (1.6kg)......1 postage cost, up to 5kg including packaging...i only post using dhl with tracking number and insurance...postal charges shown are for mainland countries only.buyers from outside of the eu are responsible for any taxs, import duty taxs,charges,ect...we are happy to answer any questions you may have about the item for sale,shipping,ect,normally we hope to reply within 24hrs...greetings from saarland germany...kind regards..,mark
