I turned this bowl from a beautifully figured box elder burl. . It's about 12" in diameter. Burls are frequently filled with bark inclusions, cracks and
voids. These “faults” are part of the story of their life, and part of their character. For this reason, burl bowls and platters are generally used for dry
food such as fruits, vegetables, crackers and breads, rather than foods that can leak moisture.
This piece is finished with a clear satin lacquer and signed by me.
It will be carefully packed and shipped free to you with a tracking number.
My name is Skip Bellock. I've been a woodworker in Utah for over 30 years. This is a custom designed piece of art created by me alone, in my studio.
I have sold outlets my art through various art galleries for many years as well as through art and craft fairs. I have been a demonstrator at the prestigious Utah Symposium for Woodturners which attracts international woodworkers. I developed my skills and techniques over many years.
I harvest local burls and wood from areas being cleared for development or arborist's storage lots. I only use woods that are from a sustainable resource.
I hope you enjoy owning this as much as I enjoyed creating it.
See skipbellock.com for other items and pricing. My website includes a demonstration video for how I create a “wavy” bowl.
