Overview: Up for sale is this absolutely stunning 1937 oil painting on board. The painting is signed "JosVercamer" and dated 1937 at lower right. It depicts a clipper ship in a stormy seascape. The waves and the sky are incredible and the whole piece is well-painted. I haven't found any information on this artist, but he (I believe "Jos" stands for "Joseph") was supremely talented. Based on the name and style, I would guess the artist is Dutch, but have no information to confirm that. It comes framed in a very nice (possibly period) gold wood frame. Condition: The painting is in very good to excellent condition. There is a small cut in the board at the extreme right-center, a outlets small scratch just under that and a small area of discoloration at top-center. Otherwise, fantastic condition. The frame shows a few instances of scuffing. Please see the photos. Measurements: Painting measures approximately 14.5 inches high x 11 inches wide. Frame measures 16.5 inches high x 13 i.
