A scholar of American Indian languages, he served as the first Connecticut State Librarian in 1854 and as Secretary of State from 1861 to 1866. He wrote extensively on the history of Connecticut. It contains topics like verbs, land names and water names, pronunciations and interpretations. This is an amazing piece of Native American and Connecticut history. What an awesome find if I do say so myself. ☺️.
