Vintage original Letter and Cover signed by famous Congressman J. Parnell Thomas (1895-1970) from New Jersey dated August 1943 expressing his condolences for a constituent. We have blocked out recipient name on cover and letter. The letter AND Cover (above the govt postage) are signed by Thomas - very unusual. Thomas was Chairman of the House Committee on Un-American Activities starting in 1946 investigating communism within Hollywood. He was found guilty of fraud in 1950 and served time in jail. He was pardoned by Harry Truman in 1952. He unsuccessfully tried to re-enter politics and became publisher of several NJ newspapers. Condition is good cover has scuffs and foxing and normal creasing.
