This is a Black woman-owned business and these pillow covers are handsewn by me, made from authentic African mudcloth ethically sourced from a Black woman-owned business in Mali which is located in Western Africa. Mali mudcloth is a traditionally handspun, handwoven, handstitched and handprinted fabric sourced from Mali, Africa. This unique, textured fabric is woven in 5-inch strips, then the strips are sewn together.

Because of the handmade nature of this fabric, expect slight imperfections: pulls, slight color variations, loose threads, design smudges, and varying degrees of weave thickness. It is widely accepted that these unique attributes inherent in this fabric are not defects. This adds to the beauty and individuality of each pillow, as no two are alike. That said, I adhere to extremely high-quality standards to ensure you will be completely satisfied with the finished product.

This fabric is dyed and composed of a thick cotton canvas, spun and woven 100% by hand. Mali mudcloth fabric is pattern is dyed with fermented mud and other organic dyes. The dyeing technique is 100% organic, free from all kinds of harmful chemicals.

Originally the hand-drawn symbols on these fabrics told traditional stories of the peoples of the region. Today artists create their own symbols and patterns.

Please note that each mud cloth is unique and each pillow cut can vary the design of the finished pillow. We try to reflect the variations in our photos. Please message us if you have a particular preference and we will do our best to accommodate you.

All Mali Mudcloth covers are designed with a professional fit (trust me, you want this!). They will measure roughly 1-2" smaller than the insert to ensure a nice, snug fit. The noted size reflects the recommended insert size, not the actual dimensions of the pillow cover.
