Product code: Showy Indian Azalea, 1835 outlets Paxton Botanical Engraving, Original Hand Colored Antique Print

Mr. Smith's Indian Azalea (Azalea Indica Smithii). Original antique hand-colored engraving from Paxton's Magazine of Botany published by William S. Orr & Co. in London, 1835. S. Holden was both the artist and the engraver. It was then beautifully colored by hand at the original time of publication, with the coloring work being of exceptional quality and detail.

This is one of only a dozen or so larger double-sized plates outlets issued by Paxton. It was a centerfold as issued and therefore has an original horizontal fold line. It has since been maintained open and flat, however, and the fold is hardly noticeable. It is an original hand-colored antique print, not a modern reproduction.

Dimensions:
Approx. 9" x 12" (sheet size)

Condition:
There is some minor faint surface spotting throughout background along the right side, but otherwise very good. Wonderful bright original hand color. Original informational text sheet included.

It will be packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve on a backing and will ship within a rigid mailer for protection.
