Teabowl yunomi, kurinuki, raku outlets firing.

This teabowl was carved out from outlets a single block of clay in the kurinuki style. The clay is typically sandy and light colored, this being important so that the semitransparent glazes look brighter. Red iron and yellow ocher were used on a fritted base. Characteristic of this type of ware is the darkened unglazed areas,,the clay having absorbed the post-firing smoke to which has been submitted.
