The crystal cluster you are buying is the one in the photo. The Black Tourmaline crystals are a great lustrous cluster and the white is orthoclase feldspar.
Erongo Black Tourmalines tend to be more lustrous and have 'Mercedes Benz' (trigonal) terminations.
The issue of water and resources is important in a desert. outlets Erongo Mountain is in the centre of the Namib Desert. The small scale miners we work with can spend weeks digging up on the mountain. Supplies have to be walked in and with elevation and distance, it is a challenge.
With some luck the miners found a small spring on Erongo Mountain, close to where they were working. They were able to drink the water and after some digging hit a pocket which released 40 litres splashing down on them. The crystals inside were black tourmaline and smokey quartz. The pocket was named " The Water Pocket"
Nharo traveled through Erongo Region in March 2019 (last photo). It was our hope that we would find some special black tourmaline as we had in the past. It wasn't that there were no crystals at that time, there were. It was just that they weren't exciting to us.
Two weeks later we got news that our team had "hit the pocket". We made arrangements to send cash to buy the whole collection and to get export papers and transit organized to our Toronto warehouse. Easier send than done but the shipment arrived in mid-June and we have started listing the crystals.
