This is a Kiyomizu-yaki earthenware doll made of soft unglazed fabric and colored.
The soft zodiac signs made by Kyoto doll makers add a fresh sense of beauty and color to the year of the Chinese zodiac.
The doll is parted in the middle and can be used either as an incense burner or as an ornament for display. The gentle expression of the tiger is, of course, a must. Each stroke is handwritten and brought to life.

Yoshizo Asami
Yoshizo Asami, the fourth generation of Yoshimine Kiln, was born in 1912.
(the second son of Gorosuke II) and opened his own kiln in Gojozaka.
Born in 1961 in Gojozaka.
Trained as a potter under his father (the second generation) and uncle (the third generation), and assumed the name of the fourth generation in 1992.
Received the name Yoshimine Kiln from Master Maeda Masamichi of Daitokuji Temple in 1995.
He was given the name Yoshimine Kiln by Master Maeda Masamichi, the head of the Daitokuji Temple in 1995.
