The basket is handmade by the women of the Embera indigenous tribe of Panama. Embera Wounaan women have been waving baskets for centuries, using a fine needle for most of their work. Flora and fauna, mixed with their reverence for the rain forest spirits, inspire their designs. The fabric is made from a plant call werregue and painted with colors taken from nature. For color, the tribeswomen extract deep pigments from mother nature, shredding, crushing, boiling and drying some of the abundant insects, plants, berries, and outlets bark. 6" wide x 4" Hight 6" wide x 4" Hight.
