Product code: Vintage Lyre Bronze Bookends, Philadelphia Mfg. outlets Co.

outlets These elegant bronze cast bookends showcase the elegance and geometry of the Art Deco period, even though they were made in the 1960s by the Philadelphia Manufacturing Company. The classic lyre, basically a harp with a U-shaped frame and crossbar, was used by the Greeks in ancient history and by some African musicians today. The lyre stands on an interesting geometric base. Each bookend is small (approximately 3 inches wide, 4 inches long and 5 inches tall) but hefty (more than 2 pounds). The smooth bronze finish extends to all sides and the back, which has the model, 56B PMC, etched near the base. This set is in great used condition; it is missing the felt originally applied to the base (see photos), which is easy to replace.
