Product code: Antique Hand Embroidered Silk handkerchief made by an American outlets Soldier to his Wife during WWI with a bobbin lace edge.

This is an Incredible piece of history as well as a beautiful hanky. A lovely mauve silk with bobbin lace borders, made in France around 1917. The hand embroidered patches were done by an American Soldier during WWI in France and state, “To My Dear Wife, From Your Loving Husband.” These souvenir pieces were made by soldiers as a way to stay busy during the many monotonous hours of warfare during the war and offered as a family heirloom to their loved ones.

This piece of vintage fabric has not been previously laundered by us. Some purchasers prefer to do the laundering themselves outlets so we keep it in its original antique or vintage condition. Therefore there may be some natural yellowing from aging, stains and strong odors. Please be careful laundering this piece and use a simple warm water or water and baking soda bath first. For stubborn stains try a dedicated antique linen cleaner or a small amount of an oxygen based cleaner, without detergent, after soaking in water first. Never use starch on old linens. Starch can break down and eat away the fibers over long periods of time.

Store your piece in a place that is free of moisture, extreme heat or light. Do not store in plastic bags as this will create condensation and can increase yellowing or cause other stains. Make sure your piece gets good, dry air flow.
