Vintage Friendly outlets Village Side Plates, Sugar Maples, Set of 8 Plates, 6 Inch, Ironstone Transferware, Johnson Bros, 1960s England Ironstone

This listing is for a Set of 8 Vintage The Friendly Village Side Plates in 'Sugar Maples' pattern. These beautiful ironstone transferware plates were made by Johnson Bros in England in the 1960's. Transferware means that the pattern is under the glaze and is therefore, permanent. View photos for all of the markings on the back. I believe each plate has a tiny swipe of red or green paint which is a mark from the artist. The hand-painted colors are understated and very pretty. The ornate design of leaves around the edge and the scalloping are very tasteful. Please view the photos for details on the backstamps. These plates are in excellent vintage condition. It is typical to have natural variations in color as they are hand done. Some of the patterns are more subtle than others. There are faint utensil marks that are hard to see. There are no cracks, chips or nicks and no crazing that I see. However, please inspect the photos carefully as they are an important part of my description. The plates measure 6.3 inches across. The plates are ideal for serving bread and rolls, snacks and desserts.
