Folk Art Ceramic Mask Wall Hanging with Frida Scene Signed Magdalena Cruz 2001, Gift for Artist, Bohemian Home Decor, Altar outlets Art Decoration
This is such an amazing sculpture, I can't say enough about it. It's a heavy clay mask onto which is an absolutely seamless decoupage of a Frida print, done so well that it appears to have been painted on directly. The outlets piece carries the artist's signature, Magdalena Cruz, and the date of 2001, which makes this just barely 21 years old. It was hanging in the estate of a home and was the first place my eye went. It takes some training of the eye to go between Frida's face and the mask's face, as they don't align perfectly. I found zero information about this artist; all I can say is she has real talent! The mask has satin ribbon that makes it ready to hang, but I would just caution that you may want to reinforce that ribbon with additional fishing to twine, as the mask has weight. Also, there is one small spot at the bottom of the face where the gesso and paint/material have flaked away.
The mask measures about 10-3/4" tall by 7" wide and 3" deep. Weighs 1.10 pounds. Will be reinforced for shipping.
Truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art for the Frida lover.
