Gyotaku is the traditional method of printing fish. This form of nature printing was used by fishermen to record their catch but has now become an art form of its own.
The printer cleans, preps, and outlets supports the fish to be printed. He then applies sumi-e ink or oil paint to one side of the fish caught. He then covers the fish with rice paper and rubs the entire fish to create an exact image of the fish.
This is an original Gyotaku of a Ray.
It is printed on handmade mulberry paper
It is not matted or framed.
All of my gyotaku are original and signed, dated, and stamped with my personal hanko.
