The decanter is in great condition. There are no breaks, chips, or repair marks on the piece. The leather covering is in great condition. There is a slight surface-only peeled spot on the side of the plug - in pictures. Other than this previously peeled off spot there are no more peeling or coming apart areas as far as I can tell. The leather bottom has a partial split around part of the surface. It is hardly detectable unless you pick the bottle up and look at it. The split is not all the way around the bottle. At first one might think the bottom has been repaired but it does not look that way because the split would have been of such to remove the bottom. However, it may have been pulled down and partially glued. The decanter does not set completely level due to the leather bottom.

The decanter has a full-bodied lion insignia on the side with faint gold accent colors on the side. While there are no marks on the bottom of this decanter as far as maker or origin this decanter is consistent with those from Italy and considered to contain gin. The wear on the bottom could have removed the embossed letters as leather bottoms can have surface wear.

The decorative possibilities for this decanter are many. It would work well with a country-western theme or a contemporary decanter collection. The plastic stopper is tight and not splitting or broken. The collector will appreciate this piece because of the leather wrapped and faint gold insignia. This type of decanter makes a beautiful decorative piece for a curio collection or display cabinet.

***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.

***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two.

We try very hard to make sure you know what we know.
