Beware the kraken!
This octopus is crawling up the mug and has wrapped its tentacles tightly around it!
This one has turned out beautifully and has a gnarly, washed up by the sea look about it! The textures of the glazes have combined wonderfully to create a real vintage look.

The mug in the photos is the one you will receive.
I hand made this mug in my tiny back garden studio - a little pottery with a small plug in kiln and a wheel. During the day I'm a full time art teacher, so I can only make a handful of pots each week.

This one took outlets a few days to make. First, I hand slip cast the basic mug shape, then, as it dried I hand sculpted the octopus and tentacles and attached them to the mug, leaving it to dry for a few days before bisque firing it for 24 hours.
After cooling, I hand painted it in a variety of high quality Botz glazes in shades of orange and brown and white then returned to to the kiln for a second firing.

I love this one! The glaze looks very lumpy and bumpy, as if it has been in the sea for years! As a result, it is definitely more ornamental than for every day use.

A great present for a pirate! Or a Fisher or lover of the sea, fantasy or deep sea creatures. Or a fan of Crustaceancore. It's not technically a crustacean but it's definitely in the same ballpark / swimminpool.
Who doesn't love an octopus!
