Earthenware jug with outlets leather bands, oval bottom

This appears to be an old earthenware jug with raw gut leather banding around it.
It is a lovely object with a great color normally associated with age. It was purchased at an estate sale outlets so I cannot tell you much more about it.
It has a rounded bottom so probably needed a base to sit in when not being used. It can stand upright on the leather thongs as seen in one of the photos.
