1920's Yola D'Avril Cape Dress Fashion Portrait - Original outlets Vintage News Photo - Silent Film Actress Publicity Photo - International Newsreel
An exceptional vintage original 1920's era news photo of actress Yola D'Avril. This photo is from the "International Newsreel" and has the corporation's copyright stamp on the reverse. The photograph still has its original paper slug with cutline attached. The cutline is dated 6/13/27 and was featured in the fashion section of the publication in which it was showcased. The cutline reads:
"Los Angeles -- Little Red Riding Hood would be fashionable in an abbreviated cape and frock with snug fitting bonnet to match. And while red is a popular color, the rose shades, less severe, are more so... Yola D'Avril featured in First National Pictures, wears the very newest friend of Hollywood model cape dress. It consists of a straight up and down sleeveless watermellon flat crepe frock, elaborately painted in conventional design, and slightly nipped in at the waist by a narrow self material belt. The cape features a wide yoke with accordion pleating eighteen inches wide to form the bottom flare."
This is an original vintage photograph measuring approximately 7 5/8" by 9" in size printed on glossy single-weight paper stock.
CONDITION:
The photo is still in average to good condition for its age. Unfortunately, the photo has been cut down by the original owner at some point in its history. The top inch of the photo was cut off for some reason, and the cutline isn't very straight. Additionally, the left and right edges aren't quite straight cuts either. The paper slug is complete and still securely attached. The photo itself has some moderate corner wear. Finally, the photo exhibits a few minor surface impressions from normal handling and some faint surface abrasions.
A great vintage publicity photo showcasing the fashion stylings of the Roaring Twenties.
The photo will ship securely boxed to ensure safety outlets during transit.
