This is a vintage Royal Doulton character mug manufactured during the years 1939-1953. This Small Beefeater was designed by Harry Fenton and measures about 3 inches tall. The "Beefeater" is the name for the Yeomen of the Guard and wardens of the Tower of London. This Character Mug features the head and neck of the beefeater, wearing a black hat, white ruffles around the neck and a red tunic. The back of the mug says "Beef Eater" and the handle has "GR" in honor of the English monarch at the time, George Rex (King George VI). In excellent condition. Bottom marked: “Beefeater Copr. 1946.
