Set of 4 - Bing & Grøndahl - Butterfly Boullion Soup Bowl / Cup - outlets Handpainted Danish Mid Century Porcelain
These amazing Blue Fluted Boullion soup bowls goes under the name "Sommerfugl" which translates to summerbird, meaning butterfly in english. It features blue leaves and a flower on each side, handpainted on the beautiful high quality porcelain. The pattern on these pieces, is very elegant and classic, and known as "Musselmalet" in Denmark.
The 4 bowls were made by Bing & Grøndahl outlets in 1945, 1947, 1961 and 1971, marked by the numbers on the bottom.
Bing & Grøndahl was founded in Denmark in 1853 by Frederik Wilhelm Grøndahl and and brothers Meyer and Jacob Hermann Bing. It's well-known logo are the three towers showing the Coat of Arms of Copenhagen. Bing & Grøndahl's main competitor was the Royal Porcelain Factory, in which they merged with in 1987, creating the name Royal Copenhagen.
