A Federal regulation Model 1863 cavalry bit outlets excavated from skirmish site near Winchester, Virginia. Located in the Shenandoah Valley, Winchester was the scene of cavalry operations through out the Civil War. This was has the more common #2 port or crossbar which was less harsh on the horse. Missing the second cross bar, it is also missing the “US” rosettes on either side which could indicate Confederate use. A well used bit.
The bit has been treated and sealed. It measures 8 ¼” by 6” wide.
All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original as stated. A hand signed and dated “Certificate of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph and description of the items purchased.
