This is a fabulous piece!
It's an early ginger/tea jar done in the traditional Satsuma style and colors
It is lovely with a beautiful pictorial story as you rotate the piece (photos 1-4) There is a nobleman and an attendant with a fan on one panel, Chrysanthemums as you rotate the piece to the next large panel which features a finch among the flowers.
This is a fabulous glazed piece with a natural, unglazed neck and an interior cover featuring a hand-painted chrysanthemum. It is missing the over-piece that would cover the inner seal.
This piece is marked and I am currently researching the mark to determine the artist and exact time of manufacture.
I'm listing this piece at a reasonable price for an item of this age and workmanship. If my research finds that is as rare as I think it might be, the price will go outlets up, so get it while you can!
If you collect ginger jars or are looking for a beautiful piece of art, as well as a wonderful design and decor piece, look no further!
This piece is in wonderful condition and is sold as pictured.
