Product code: Ultimately rare outlets book, 1858 copy of " Versailles et Trianon, Douze Vues des Chateaux et Parcs de Versailles et De Trianon guide book

Look, Versailles first opened its doors to the public as a museum in 1837, then just 20 years, the first guide books were published containing text, pictures and maps of the Chateaux and the gardens. So, It has some time and used. The front cover has a bend down the middle, but is it intact. The cover is done in a green shagreen (shark skin) with gold tooled lettering. The pages of the book have some spots and foxing and the pages have discolored to an overall ivory hue, but here are not rips or major blemishes.

also on the title page, it continues, "Dessinees D`apres Nature par Jaime, Graveel par Best et Hotelin, Accomagnees D`un Texte Descripte et D'UN Plan General" Avec indication des Embarcarderes Des Chemin De Fer" then finally, Versailles Chez Brunox, Imprimteur-Lithographie, Place Hoche, 13 1858.

It starts with the descriptions of the gardens of Versailles, starting with the L'Orangerie of course, then continuing.

the twelve views are I, Le Palais De Versailles vu De Place D`Armes,II Bassin De Latone( palace view) III L`Orangerie et La Piece D`eau Des Suisses, IV Le Bain De Diane,V Bassin De Neptune, VI Bains D`Apollon, VII Bassin Latone, VIII La Salle de Bal, IX La Colannade, X Bassin D`Apollon, XI Le Grand Trianon, Vue Prise Du Canal, and finally, XII Le village Suisse, Petit Trianon.

THAT MEANS YOU SEE THE THESE SCENES AS DRAWINGS WITH MEN IN TOP HATS AND LADIES IN HOOP SKIRTS, YOU KNOW, THE CURRENT FASHION.

WHAT I LIKE IS THE GUIDE BOOK TELLS YOU WHAT RAILWAY LINES LEAVE FROM WHERE AND HOW MUCH ARE THE TICKETS, FIRST AND SECOND CLASS. INCLUDES LONDON TO PARIS! BY CALAIS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE BOOK IS IN FRENCH AND EVEN RARE BOOK FOR FRANCE. It measures 7 inches long by outlets 4 1/2 high.

THE BOOK WAS PURCHASED BY ME IN FRANCE, AND IT IS PART OF MY COLLECTION.
