This rustic old Jaguar mask is hand carved by a Guatemalan indigenous artisan. This exciting mask portrays a jaguar (or tigre in Spanish) that is a character in several Guatemalan dances. These beautiful cats were once the top predator in Mexico all the way down to Argentina. Today they survive in only a few remote forests. Ceremonial Mayan. The mask is rustic but in good condition. There is some dust in the groves of the carving. Comes from a clean non smoking home. In very good vintage condition see images.
