Smena-2 is a slightly improved version of the first model. The only difference is that Smena-2 has a self-timer and a wired sync contact socket from the very beginning. The first Shift had a synchrocontact only on the later part of the releases.

The first and second models were produced, in general, simultaneously. The second began to be produced 2 years later - in 1955, but the production of both models ended simultaneously in 1962.

I wonder if such a meager difference in the design of the devices really gave such a tangible difference in price that there was a strong outlets demand for the first, simpler model, and therefore there was a reason to support parallel production?

The standard lens is a fixed triplet T-22 4.5 / 40. The aperture limit is f22. My copy has a lens with enlightenment, as indicated by the letter P on the front section of the lens.
