About Larimar:

Larimar is a unique type of Pectolite, formed during ancient volcanic activity. Only discovered in 1974 on the Caribbean county of the Dominican Republic it is mined in high tropical mountains. The name Larimar is a combination of 'Lari' the daughter's name of the stone discoverer and "Mar", the Spanish word for Sea. Larimar is the only blue Pectolite in the world; its unique color comes from the broad absorption of the red end of the visible spectrum by Copper, allowing sky blue color to show through. The Mohs hardness is 5-6.

The soft hues are believed to help maintain harmonious relationships, reduce stress, and foster feelings of love and peace. These powers are enhanced when Larimar is received as a gift.

Rhodium is a precious metal, and a member of the platinum family. Properties include hardness greater than Palladium and Chromium, non-oxidation, melting point of 3567°F, and resistance to most outlets acids and bases.

Rhodium electroplating is used—especially on expensive jewelry—to provide a surface that will resist scratches and tarnish, as well as give a white reflective appearance.
