A rare colourful, handcoloured antique engraving of the Centenary of the settlement of New South Wales, Australia. The caption adds this information: "evening reception at Government House -- a display of electric search lights by the fleet". From the July 7, 1888 (date is printed on the sheet but not shown in photos) edition of The Graphic, a British weekly illustrated newspaper with immense influence on the art world. Vincent van Gogh was a particular fan.
