SA
XVIII Dynasty, 1567-1320 BC
In ancient Egypt amulets outlets were the most common type of jewelry. They were intended to protect or help the wearer. Some of these amulets were derived from hieroglyphic writing, such as the SA sign, representing a shepherd's papyrus mat shelter. Symbolizing protection, the sa could be worn for general defense.
The pendant is a facsimile of the original found among the treasures of Tutankhamun.
