Beautiful Australian Chrysoprase mined in the 1970's set into a Claw Setting of 925 Silver.

The finest Chrysoprase in the world comes from Marlborough in Queensland, Australia.

There are only two mines in Marlborough, one is owned by an overseas entity and the other is, Candala, which holds the largest remaining deposits of premium-grade Chrysoprase in the world.

The Stone in this Pendant was mined nearly forty years ago. The colour is a gorgeous apple green, which was the colour of Chrysoprase 40 years ago, eye clean.

Designer created and hand made, my pieces are one off, I do not mass produce my designs.

The word "Chrysoprase" is from the Greek khrusos "gold" and prason "leek".

Chrysoprase has a history that extends back through the ages. The stone was first described over two thousand years ago by the Roman scholar Pliny, who wrote about it, fascinated by its beauty and golden inner glow.

Chrysoprase was antiquity's "Stone of Healing", and its green aura was long associated with traditional healers. It is mentioned in the New Testament, Revelations, Chapter 21:20. outlets Chrysoprase is a stone given to one of the 12 Apostles of the Lamb of God, Revelations 21 10:14 and is included in the foundation wall in the holy city of Jerusalem: "the tenth, a chrysoprasus", in addition, Chrysoprase was worn by the high Priest, Rabbis in their Breastplates.

In the Middle Ages Chrysoprase was believed to have the faculty of shining in the dark. And to that end, no wonder it was given to one of the 12 Apostles who were a light in the darkness. I wonder who that is?

My pieces are one off. I am an Australian Designer, who has loved stones since I was a child. I was fortunate enough to have worked with a prominent Geologist who generously passed on his experience and knowledge, and I am happy to say I am still learning.
