Larimar is a stone that was discovered (relatively) recently, in 1974, on the island of Hispaniona in the Caribbean Sea. Since making it's appearance in the world of gemstone jewelry, it has been hailed as the most powerful semiprecious stone for connecting with Goddess Consciousness and maternal energy, as well as an amulet for emotional strength and stability. Ranging in colour from cloudy white to sea foam green and pale turquoise, it's needle-like crystalline formation produces patterning within the stone that often looks like an aerial view of the swirling waters in the ocean. Meditating by gazing into blue Larimar can bring us into the stillness and inner relaxation similar to floating in a pool or wading into the cool waters of a warm beach- very fitting for a gem found only in the tropics! In a way, this stone unites the energies of fire and water, since it first comes into existence by volcanic activity, but is later pushed out of the fires of the earth, onto the sandy shores of the Caribbean water. Used as an analogy for life, the stone can symbolize life's tendency to put us into a "trial by fire," but if we keep our cool and act according to our heart, we will reach the tranquil shore and rise above the conflicts. In The Book of Stones, Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian describe Larimar with the key words, "calming, cooling, soothing to the emotional body, enhanced communication, feminine power, connection with goddess energies."

Moonstone reminds us of the power and wonder of the moon, night-time and divine cycles. When we wear, carry, meditate with or gaze at a Moonstone, it's energy catalyzes our realization of the divinity inherent in femininity, and the creative power of Mother Energy. When worn by a woman, Moonstone awakens what some call the "inner Goddess," bringing grace into her movements and compassion into her expression. When worn by a man, Moonstone awakens the feminine side, allowing for a softer touch and greater appreciation for all that women do and represent. Ideal for awakening the maternal instincts of nurturing and the feminine gifts of intuition and surrender, Moonstone is an excellent gift for new or expecting mothers, for young women and girls who are searching for their femininity, or anyone who seeks a personal relationship with the Divine Mother. Moonstone is described in The Book of Stones as having the attributes of "Mystery, self-discovery, intuition, insight, dreams, the Goddess."

Amazonite is one of the most lovely light turquoise coloured gemstones for activating, clearing and soothing the Vishudhi Chakra, the Throat Centre. As it's name reveals, it comes from- and resonates with the qualities of- the Amazon outlets. In the oracle deck The Crystal Ally Cards, Amazonite is shown to represent Personal Truth, since it harmonizes with the power of clear communication, assisting it's wearer to speak what needs to be spoken without hesitation or self-censorship. In The Book of Stones, besides listing Amazonite's catalytic qualities towards empowering truthful communication, Robert Simmons lists another strong power of this gemstone as "awakening compassion through stimulation of the Heart Chakra." Whenever stones stimulate the Anahata, Heart, Chakra, we can be sure they will bring added love, sweetness and empathy to one's relationships.

Blue Apatite is, in my opinion, one of the most gorgeous stones on the planet! Naturally neon to electric blue, it looks like tropical ocean water solidified as a gem. It's known by crystal healers as conducive towards opening the third eye and awakening psychic ability. In The Book of Stones, Naisha Ahsian praises Blue Apatite as a gem "to use in past life work, due to it's ability to lend access to the energy levels where the Akashic records exist." This makes it an ideal stone for those curious about the soul's journey, the lessons learned and patterns yet to be broken. When I worked as a professional Tarot Card reader, I regularly wore a Blue Apatite necklace for exactly this reason, and always felt a deep gratitude for the added awareness it radiates.

Aquamarine is a precious gem in the Beryl family that ranges in colour from clear to clear-blue to blue-green. It has been revered for use in jewelry and talismans for millennia! In historic Europe, Aquamarine gems were often given to sailors and family members before they embarked on a trip, since it was believed to keep people safe at sea, since it's colour and clarity mimic that of the ocean, as well as the foam on the sea. Now, it's as popular as ever, with spiritually intuitive Crystal Healers attributing to it the property of clarifying thought and speech, as well as cooling the body (making it great for anyone who gets hot a lot, including those who suffer from hot flashes!) and relaxing the Vishudhi Chakra, the Throat, centre of personal expression. In The Book of Stones, Robert Simmons describes the energy of Aquamarine as being "as refreshing as a shower under a cool waterfall," and Naisha Ahsian calls it "a powerful cleansing agent for the emotional body" and "one of the best stones to employ for clearing communication issues." This makes it ideal for anyone in the public eye who has to speak clearly and articulately, as well as anyone dealing with fear of confrontation and public speaking, and essentially, anyone who is shy.

Enjoy!
