(though hard to capture on camera..) Chinese brush painting is a fascinating specialized art. Each element is made with one brush stroke - the shading and shape being controlled by pressure and touch of the brush to the paper. It requires years of practice and training to execute it. Kuei trained with some of the masters, and we were fascinated by her artistry, both the brush paintings like this one, and her other styles, some of which she seems to have invented. This one departs from the strict traditional in that the artist added color, and did so extremely well. The painting retains its basic simplicity, but adds an exciting element. Still the single brush stroke for each element. About 18x5" Framed Inv #320-2-50.
