SALE - Mid Century Original outlets Painting “The Jester” (signed)

This is a premium mid century piece of art work, which I call “the jester. It is oil or Acrylic on board with some texture adding a slight dimensional position. The subject is a masked Jester wearing a rabbato common from Shakespearean dress, a cap and bells, there is a vessel of spilled wine and disproportionately sized directly above and quite small, as if in a far distance a flock of what appears to be seagulls circling over what has been spilled far below. The Jester's body position and facial dynamics seem to suggest an aire of superiority, impatience ...The painting is signed, however, the signature is not known to me.

The symbolism of the Jester: the outlets jester has been used in literature and especially Shakespearean literature to represent common sense and raw honesty, often the court jester is a character used for insight and advice on the part of the monarch, taking advantage of his license to mock and speak freely to dispense frank observations and highlight the folly of his monarch. This presents a clashing irony as a greater man could dispense the same advice and find himself being detained in the dungeons or even executed. Only as the lowliest member of the court can the jester be the monarch's most useful adviser. History is rich with the Jester's roles in political society...a passive aggressive commentary
