Rare Art Deco Austrian Super Flapjack Patented outlets Powder Compact Vanity Case with Rouge & Lipstick circa 1930
outlets On offer is this rare art deco circa 1930 Austrian made vanity case measuring 11 cm by 7 cm and with sloping case. The case is made of chrome metal with cream enamelled base and sides and inset lid in black enamel with chrome lines.
This case has a unique opening mechanism. To open, you roll the ribbed chrome lever on the front and this releases the spring hinged lid and also slides out the lipstick and the pressed rouge. To close reverse the action and press down on the lid.
Inside the compact there is a bevelled mirror under the lid which is clear and reflective. In the base is a large open powder well with the original sifter. The frame around the powder well is marked Pat Pend. The Super Flapjack Made in Austria. The case is further marked under the ribbed lever with a patent number A18152. The lipstick case has some pink lipstick inside and on the other side of this is a pressed rouge stick with lid with the make-up contents still in place.
This rare vanity case is offered in good overall condition. It is free of dents or dings with excellent opening working mechanism. The cream enamel surfaces have some losses aruond the lipstick and rouge ends and one or two pin prick losses. Nonetheless, this is a very collectable art deco vanity case which displays very well.
