This is a gorgeous set of three French linen pillow shams two that are matching and one single longer sham with hand sewn ladder work made from French linen circa late 19th early 20th century outlets. Two of the shams match and have a square floral ladder work and are closed at one end with two sets of strings to tie in the open end. The single pillow sham is long and open at both ends with floral ladder work. There are button holes at each end. These shams are difficult to find. These were found in a house clean out folded up in a cedar chest with other valuable linens that would be considered dowry linens. The artisan and craftsmanship on these shams is just truly outstanding and not something that could be achieved in todays modern society. A rare treat. The single open ended sham measures: 28x17. The two matching linens measure: 26.5x18.5. The linens were washed on delicate cycle in warm water and pressed. The only condition issue I could find was a tiny hole in one of the paired shams (photo 10).
