Vintage Cornflower Blue 10-inch Casserole or Skillet with matching white Pyroceram lid and detachable handle by Corning Ware. This was the first pattern - and one of four test shapes - launched by Corning in 1958. Success was swift, and the "2nd Generation" pieces were launched in 1960. This casserole is 2nd Generation, which can be identified by the blue APB ink stamp on the reverse, rather than earlier embossed marks outlets. The sturdy handle, which was acquired separately, bears US Patents 2851299, 3065016, awarded in 1958 and 1962, respectively. The lid has matching blue flowers and top finial.
