Laurence Hope was the pseudonym used by Violet Nicolson, also known as Adela Florence Nicolson. She wrote in formal verse and her work is heavily influenced by the culture, people and history of India, where she spent much of her life. She was popular during her lifetime, and some of her works were set to music.
