Written by Leitch Ritchie (1800-1865), a Scottish writer and travel writer who published a number of articles in periodicals, edited The Era and Indian News and Chronicle of Eastern Affairs. He also penned worked such as 'The British World in the East', 'A View of the Opium Trade', 'Liber Fluviorum, or River Scenery of France'. The travel journal 'Heath's Picturesque Annual' was commissioned by the publisher and engraver Charles Heath, and subsequently ran between 1832 and 1845. Profusely illustrated with steel engravings by celebrated English painter Clarkson Stanfield (1793-1867) throughout. With an illustrated full plate frontispiece and half title page.With a gilt spine and emblem to the front cover. Condition Report: In a full straight grain morocco binding. Externally very smart, a little bumped to the extremities and head and tail of the outlets spine. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean bar the odd instance of age-toning. Overall: Very Good Indeed
